hilton park bowling club year in review – 2025/2026

The 2025/26 year was one of the most significant in the Hilton Park Bowling Club’s recent history, marked by major strategic achievements, facility upgrades, growing community engagement, and exciting opportunities for the future.

One of the year’s most important milestones was securing a new 20-year lease with the City of Fremantle. This agreement provides the long-term security needed to confidently invest in the club’s future and continue improving facilities for members and visitors alike.

Another major step forward was reaching agreement on a sub-lease for the development of Padel Courts on the club’s southern disused green. The project aligns with Hilton Park’s long-term vision of diversifying its sporting and recreational offerings, activating underutilised space, and attracting new people to the club. Planning documentation is currently with the City of Fremantle, with the project expected to commence during the second half of 2026.

Throughout the year, significant improvements were made to the club’s facilities. New double-glazed windows were installed along the western side of the clubhouse, improving comfort, energy efficiency, and noise control. The reticulation system was upgraded and extended to the surrounds of the greens, while the northern patio area received new uprights to enhance safety and appearance.

The clubhouse itself also benefited from major upgrades, including the removal of asbestos floor tiles and the installation of new flooring and carpet throughout the bar and clubroom areas. A new television and Point of Sale system were also installed, improving both the member experience and club operations.

Many of these projects were made possible through the support and cooperation of the City of Fremantle, reflecting the strong relationship that continues to develop between the club and the City.

Away from infrastructure projects, the club enjoyed another busy and successful year of bowling, competitions, and community events. Members participated enthusiastically in pennant bowls, club competitions, social bowls, and special tournaments throughout the season, demonstrating the strong club spirit that continues to be a hallmark of Hilton Park.

The club once again hosted a range of successful events, including the City of Fremantle’s Hidden Treasures Festival, the Hilton Classic, the Anzac Day Tournament, and the Fremantle Cup. These events not only showcased the club’s facilities and hospitality but also attracted visitors from across the wider community.

Barefoot bowls, social bowls, and the Community Shield continued to play an important role in introducing new people to the club and strengthening community connections. Regular club competitions, including the Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday Scroungers, Winter Mixed Pairs, and 100 Club events, remained popular features of the club calendar.

The club’s music program also continued to grow in popularity. Friday Night Music and Sunday Sessions became regular highlights throughout the year, bringing together members, guests, and local residents in a welcoming and social atmosphere while also making a valuable contribution to club revenue.

None of these achievements would have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of the club’s volunteers. From the Monday morning grounds crew and event organisers to food preparers, raffle coordinators, committee members, and the many individuals who simply step forward whenever help is needed, volunteers remain the heart of Hilton Park.

As the club looks ahead, there is genuine momentum and optimism. With a secure long-term lease, improved facilities, exciting development opportunities, and strong community support, Hilton Park is well positioned for continued growth and success.

The coming year will see a continued focus on progressing the Padel Court development, securing funding for lighting and fencing upgrades, strengthening community partnerships, growing membership, and further enhancing the club as a welcoming destination for sport, recreation, and community connection.

The achievements of 2025/26 reflect the commitment, energy, and passion of everyone involved with the Hilton Park Bowling Club. Together, members, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters have helped build a stronger club and an exciting foundation for the future.
